Many employers are looking to get more workers back in the office in 2024, as 38 per cent said they are mandating employee presence in the office this year.
However, recruitment firm Hays Ireland found 58 per cent of employers expect hybrid working arrangements to stay the same this year.
Approximately 44 per cent of employees were found to work fully from the office, while 41 per cent follow a hybrid model.
Almost two thirds (61 per cent) of employees said they would not be prepared to accept a lower salary for a role that was fully remote, while nearly half their working hours, including flexible working, would ideally change in order to improve their work-life balance.
More than half (54 per cent) of employees also said they would consider a job in the future that did not offer hybrid work.

The survey, published as part of the Hays Ireland Salary & Recruiting Trends Guide 2024, received over 1,450 responses from employers and professionals across Ireland between August and September 2023.
The report also found a growing emphasis on the importance of flexible working hours as workers seek to achieve a healthy work-life balance.
"As employees preferences shift, we see employers adapting their approaches to workplace setups," Hays Ireland's managing director Maureen Lynch said.
"The report emphasises the significance of a healthy work-life balance and fostering in-person collaboration within teams."
She added that the report "reflects a sense of optimism in the job market", noting the past year "has been a positive year of growth in Ireland".
